I have DISABLED, in 'Services', HG-Listener and HG-Provider. Sooo........

Why does the HomeGroup icon still appear everywhere? I'm a single dude. I just hate this networking crap-a-roonie stuff. I have one and, ONLY ONE, computer.

Same goes for LIBRARIES. What is with this? God! Overkill. How do you get rid of LIBRARIES, too, while we're at it?

Thanks all - this is a great Forum.

Sorry about being over dramatic (I was unaware).

The Network and Sharing Center worked OK. I changed over to PUBLIC. However, the HG icons are still there.

Hello Chipper,

These tutorials below can help show how to remove Homegroup from these locations:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/39670-homegroup-add-remove-navigation-pane.html

and

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/34580-homegroup-desktop-icon-add-remove.html

I would recommend that you give Libraries a try for a bit though. This allows you to include folders (ex: for music) into a library so that you can access all of your music for example in this one place with it still being stored in it's original location. This will show you how to remove it if you still decide to.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/938-libraries-desktop-icon-add-remove.html

and

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/580-libraries-pin-unpin-navigation-pane.html

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thank You, Brink.

HG is now gone. That worked just great.

I will take your advice and keep Libraries going for awhile and run it through those paces.

I appreciate all the help,

Chipper

Brink,

I was unaware that Libraries is now Windows Explorer. That's what it looks like, anyway.

I was looking all over Start Menu for Windows Explorer, and couldn't find it. And everytime I would have use of WE/Libs in the Taskbar, it was always because some other program I had opened sat there.

I just now ran the pointer over it, and of course it said Windows Explorer. Yeah, I'll definitely keep WE/Libs active, now.

Thanks again...

Libaries are special folders in Windows Explorer instead. Libraries let you access and arrange items from one or more folders quickly without moving them from their original locatation. Libraries themselves don't store your files or folders. Instead, they point to different folders on your hard disk, or on an external drive attached to your computer. This gives you easy access to a category of files no matter where they are stored.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/585-library-include-folder.html

I'm happy that you like them though. :)
