Hotmail / Live Domains

I see that Microsoft is allowing a person to use their service and website but keep their own domain name for e-mail, calendar, etc. Microsoft doesn't give much in the way of instructions or explanations. I know Google does this with Gmail, but it leaves me with a few questions.

1. I have my own domain name, so I am set there. However, I have existing e-mail accounts that I want to keep. Will this be a problem?

2. I know I have to change the MX records on my domain registrar...so I can expect a small amount of downtime, right?

3. Going forward, would I use the Live.com website for checking my messages? I would assume I'd add our account to smartphones using the Hotmail/Live option as well?

Are you talking about Microsoft Office 365 or Office Live Small Business?

Neither. It's their service that allows you to filter your e-mail through Hotmail/Live services, just like Google Domains.

I'm not sure exactly what service your referring to, but....

1. It shouldn't be. But if it is, you could "redirect" or "forward" your email to your new account.

2. Nah, not much at all.

3. You may not have to use the website to check email if this service allows you to connect via pop/smtp, which is almost a sure thing since all of them do - I think the only exception is Yahoo mail bc they want you to pay for that service with Mail Plus.
