Hello ! I had some mysterious shut-downs (PC just shut off) and opened the case up and cleaned out a ton of dust. Also, some loose cables were possibly blocking airflow. I tried to get everything cleaned up, and ran SpeedFan 4.43, and this is what I got. This is AFTER minor clean up and cable organization

Windows 7 64 bit Pro
Intel Q9550 2.83 GHZ
8 GB Memory

Temp1 - 40C
Temp2 - 35 C
Temp3 - -128 C (minus 128 C) ??
HD0 - 32 C

Core 0 - 53C
Core 1 - 51C
Core 2 - 47C
Core 3 - 47C
GPU - 51C

Thanks guys !

If you don't trust the temps reported by SpeedFan, you can install CoreTemp and look at the temps using that.

yeah that is very hot indeed you may have had your heat sink un-seat it self and need to reapply it. you probaly have an air gap between it and the cpu, that is very hot your idle is hot too if its the 50c intel recommends to not have that cpu go over 71c. what is your heat sink is it stock?

If your are going to replace the heatsink, then read the warranty and return policy for the CPU, sometimes this may become void if you replace the stock heatsink or fan.

i think he just has to re-seat it. that is a good thing to check though.

I would apply new thermal paste at the same time, especially if it is a stock HS/Fan. I use Arctic Silver 5 and have great luck with it, but a lot of aftermarket pastes are better than the stuff that comes with stock coolers.

also idk what that test is supposed to do to load my cpu but it put mine to 16% lol at the 100% bubble, to load it you should use prime95 but do not do that till you re-seat your heat sink with new thermal paste, and make sure you clean the old stuff off the cpu top and the heat sink it self. here's a guide to do it right if you need it.>http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appmeth/int/hl/intel_app_method_horizontal_line_v1.1.pdf
