Solved How can I extend my partition if this is the case?

Hey Guys! I have a problem, My problem is I am running out of space of my hard drive.. How can I extend my partition C to E.. I already deleted the E drive so it is now a unknown partition.. Here is the picture.

You can't "extend" because you don't have any unallocated space.

You can make unallocated space by shrinking C.

You can then add that unallocated space to D.

The best tool for that is Partition Wizard.

You could shrink C with Windows Disk Management, but you could not then use Windows Disk Management to add the new unallocated space to D because the unallocated space will appear to the right of C and WDM requires that unallocated space be immediately to the right of the partition to which you want to add the space. In your case, the unallocated space will be to the right of C, not D.

So you need Partition Wizard, here:

1. You have to make sure that former E is 'unallocated space' - delete Volume AND Partition.
Update: I just see in your last posting that this is already the case.

2. You have to use the bootable CD of Partition Wizard.

4. I highly recommend you make an image of C before you do these operations. Bettter safe than sorry.

If you want to get rid of E entirely and just use C, you would need to move everything on E to some other drive temporarily, such as an external drive.

Then delete E.

That will give you 256 GB of unallocated space. Then use Partition Wizard to add that space to C.

I think Partition Wizard will let you "merge" two partitions, but I would not trust it entirely. You might lose data, so I would try to move the data from E to some other drive instead.

Ok.. I deleted the drive E.. What happens if I move the drive c upwards the unallocated partition?

You don't "move" C anywhere.

You add the unallocated space to C with Partition Wizard.

That will mean that C is the only thing on the drive and will begin on the far left, where that unallocated space is right now.
