Solved How can I keep search results list open?

When I search for some thing in my PC & get a long list of results then click on one, it might not be the one I want so have to go back & retype & start over. Is there someway to keep the list of results open so I can pick different ones? It seems like XP worked that way??

Or is there a better way to search than from the search window at 'Start'?

Thanks, just did a test of that method. Never used it before, have always used the one at Start. When I used Explorer search there were only 4 results, from Start search there were 9: Documents(3), Pictures(1), Files(5). Why the difference? And what does Sticky Notes have to do with searches?

Not sure but it would look as though it was a Saved search by Brink so it appeared in the tutorial's screen shots,
Also not sure why the start menu would be different than the windows explorer search,

Start Menu Search is different from Windows Explorer (File Explorer) Search. Quote from a Seven Forums tutorial:

   Note

The main difference between File Explorer Search and Start Menu Search is where they search.

• Using File Explorer, the Windows Search searches both the indexed and non-indexed locations starting at the current selected folder or drive plus in all its subfolders. Examples:
  • File Explorer open on Computer > Search will search in all folders on all drives
  • File Explorer open on drive F: > Search will search in all folders on drive F:
  • File Explorer open on D:\PDF Files > Search will search in folder D:\PDF Files and all its subfolders
• Using Start Menu Search, the Windows Search searches only the indexed locations (after fresh install normally only your personal and public folders). This is the faster method to search but as it only includes indexed locations, you need to be sure to save your files only to indexed locations in order to keep them findable using Start Menu Search.

Thanks Kari.

Thrash, I too had assumed the Sticky Notes was Brink's but it's in mine too, just shows as 'Connector' or something like that & I don't have anything saved there.
Another question on his screen shot: there is the little black arrow from "user name" that then shows a list of items, I don't have that, I had to 'open' my user name to see what's in there. How can I get the list to show?
Geez, I hope that question makes sense.

Perfect sense,
Right click the Start button rb: and click on Properties,
Switch Personal folders to display as Menu and any other you want to see a list instead of a link to those folders,

I use commercial "FileSearchEX" (in Windows Explorer) to find files or contents or both.
I cannot operate without it.

The FileSearchEX window remains open -- you can open files or the containing folder and retain your original search results in FileSearchEX window.
You can have multiple search windows open too.

For me was was worth the us$20 price (for 3 PCs)

oops, I did have a "Thanks to all" post typed earlier but must have either clicked wrong button or just plain forgot to click. Maybe I am too old to learn. CRS seems to get worse every time I sit down to this chair.
