By wife gave that me name. My real name is Leroy, and she didn't like it, so she said, she would call me Lee. At first I thought what the ****, albeit I was in love, and you know how that goes.

She pasted away in 1986 from lung cancer. The smartest person I have ever known, just lacked the common since to stop smoking. Still miss her and talk to her everyday.

In my state, Texas, you can pay extra and get anything you want on your car license plate. I tried several things and they were taken already. Since my last name is McKinley, I thought I would get BIGMCK since that would be a take off on the BigMac hamburger. When the plates came the state make them wrong and they said BICMCK. I just said forget about it on the plates, but have used the name as my screen name ever since.

The best vanity plate I've seen belongs to a Swedish cold transport truck, probably driving Scandinavian salmon to South European markets and bringing fruits and vegetables back. The plate was ÄTFISK.

Ät = eat, fisk = fish, so the plate tells you to eat fish.

Anyways! My original username was Ss55goku713 (was a while ago when I first started using it.. well over 6 years) then I eventually started using 'DarkNovaGundam' because, well it sounded better. I got tired of people asking me what Gundam was so I changed to DarkNovaGamer.

Dark = I like dark things. Not 'evil' dark but dark colors.
Nova = I have a slight interest in space.
Gamer = I'm a gamer Xbox 360

Danny DeVito lived just a couple of miles from my Mom's house when she was younger. She met him before he became an actor...he literally went to Hollywood with nothing and became something...

Mine comes from my last name Faber. In high school,or when racing, everyone would say stuff like hey have you seen thefabe,or here comes thefabe. But when around all of them they would just call me Fabe. So I use it except on twitter someone else has it. So I add 711 which was the second number A.M.A. issued me after my first year of motocross. My first number issued was 1597 so I placed high enough the second year to earn the 711 plate. Which I used even when I was ranked 8th in the state with C.M.C.. Blah blah blah.

I have nothing to do, so I decided to tell why I'm also called Larry Laffer as you can see from my avatar. I didn't want to use the name here; already when registering myself here I decided I want to be taken serious, I want to use my real name. The story is quite long, but I can not tell it otherwise.

My ex-wives (three) call me shortly Idiootti, Idiot in English or Tyhmä, Stupid in English. Good names, nothing against. And really deserved!

Sierra OnLine, an American computer game publisher, published a game called "Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards" in 1987. It was the first of a successful series of computer games introducing a beer and whisky loving computer nerd called Larry Laffer, seeking for female companionship in (several) wrong places. Larry´s movements were controlled with a mouse. If the player wanted Larry to do something like pick something up or sit or say something to other characters in the game, you had to type your instructions. Maybe this picture from the first Larry-game explains it better:



The game found it´s way to Finland just before Christmas of -87, I got mine early 1988. First weekend I played it through and the rest happened almost automatically: my mates and friends started to ask me about game tips. How to find a certain object Larry was supposed to find to advance in the game and so on.

Keep in mind that a graphical computer game was something special then. This game used 16 colors and 320*240 graphics. We had Amigas, Ataris and Commodore 64:s; IBM had published the first PC-computer only 5 years earlier but nobody could afford it, the price was (in Finland, that is) about 25000 Finnish marks, when a normal worker was making about 3000 marks a month. "Leisuresuit Larry Laffer" (Teryleenipuku Larry in Finnish) was almost instantly a cult.

I do not remember who was the first person to call me Larry. I didn´t like it at first; who likes to be named after a beer licking womanizer who is all the time on the run, chased by the police? I got the name and it stayed, whether I liked it or not.

Today I am OK with the name. When I meet new people socially outside my professional life I present myself as Larry. My blog carries this name, as well as my other private web projects and albums.
