How do I delete a operating system?

Hello guys, this is on a different computer by the way.
The other computer is Windows XP with no other operating systems. I am trying to delete it to install Windows 7 (64-bit) but when I put the disc in, it says BOOTMGR not found. I have used this disc on a different computer and it worked perfectly fine so I am assuming that it's not working because it's Windows XP. Not sure because the other laptop didn't have an operating system. Also I already tried the Safe Mode CMD where you press ENTER and it says C:/WINDOWS or whatever and that didn't pop up for me. Please help.

Enter the BIOS and make sure the computer is booting the DVD first and not the HDD.

You shouldn't have to "delete" XP to install Windows 7. The Windows 7 installation process will allow you to wipe out all existing partitions.

Use the Drive Options in Steps 7 and 8 of Clean Install Windows 7 to delete all partitions, create and format New as you wish, then install to the first partition after the small 100mb boot partition it will create.

Other tips here to assure you get and keep a perfect install are the same as for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
