I press the power button and the actual pc tower beeps once then pc starts up. All ok. I just want to stop that beep ! lol
I have gone to bios and tried the quiet boot option which was already disable to stop the blurb showing on start up. But it is the beep sound that I want quiet. How to do ?

I vote also to leave the beep active, such is part and parcel of the computer's early warning system. :)

It also cues as to when to tap f12 for boot menu. I dont advise unplugging the mobo speaker.

Sometimes in BIOS there is an option to disable the onboard speaker. You'd have to look everywhere in BIOS to find the option if it exists at all.

The other option would be to unplug the motherboard speaker, but it looks like you have an OEM computer and the speaker would probably be soldered onto the motherboard. Unless you're good with electronics and a soldering gun, don't mess with it.

As was already mentioned, the motherboard speaker is there to tell you if there's an issue. If for example you had bad RAM you might get several beeps in a pattern. To decode that pattern of beeps you'd have to refer to your motherboard or computer manufacturer manual.

Ok. The consensus of the experts (other than me) seem to agree that it would be wise to leave the beep enabled. Personally, I wish they hadn't gotten rid of the complete POST starting with Win 7. I have two Win 7 systems but use my Vista system the most and I love hearing the beep and seeing what's going on during and after the POST. Sorry to digress.

I agree. That beep is part of a diagnostic system and you actually want to hear a single beep on boot up, even if you think you don't. Any more than that or none at all is an indication of hardware issues. It's your computer's way of telling you that everything is fine.

There might be a bios setting on your win7 machine that will display all of that, if you like.

Page 21 table 25. You might have that setting in your machine.

Extend BIOS POST Time - Creates an additional pre-boot delay to see POST messages.

On some machines there might be a bios section called Fastboot - check if it can be set to full, complete, thorough, verbose or some wording along those lines.

I have a boot/load that is quite informative and lengthy, using msconfig. Anyone interested, I can post some details, otherwise, onward and upward we go! :)

Please don't disable the beeps on your system.

They may seem annoying however they are very important to see whether your system is functioning properly.
