My PC is infected with malware and some rootkit infection.

I tried system restore and even wiped the hard drive to install factory recovery diskd but to no avail.

Tried downloading and installing Comodo but the bug will not allow it update itself or perform a scan ... ( it would not allow me visit AVG or Comodo sites but I got around that with malwarebytes... System is still infected though. Every time I open my browser there seems to be a new site to block with adblock .

I had this problem a few years ago with XP and I changed boot order to the CD / DVD drive and formatted the C drive from there and reinstalled Operating System.

I would do this but am not clear on how to format the C drive from the DVD / CD.

Please help!

To do it from the Windows 7 DVD, follow these steps:

  1. Select your language and click Next
  2. Click "Install now"
  3. Click "I accept the license terms" and click Next
  4. Click "Custom (advanced)"
  5. Select the drive to be formatted, and then click "Drive options (advanced)"
  6. You should see this after clicking "Drive options (advanced)"
  7. Click these buttons in the following order: Delete, New, Format
  8. If you want to go ahead and install Windows 7 to this drive, then click Next
  9. Otherwise, you can click the red X and confirm that you want to cancel
