Solved How do I get Office 2013 updates to show in Windows Updates.

I am using Office 2013 Pro & it does not show updates in the normal Windows Update section on my computer. I have to refer to any Office application, select File & then Accounts to see that I have automatic updates selected & the update number, but it does not tell me if it is the latest update, so I have to check to see that it is the latest, which it is apparently.
I would like to be able to see which Office updates are available & to install them as I do with the usual Windows Updates. Can anyone suggest a solution please.

Just a random thought. Does your computer have the "Click-to-Run" version of Office installed? Updates for the C2R version do not appear in Windows Update or WSUS. Updates are downloaded in the background automatically (whether you want them to or not).

You can identify C2R by looking under the File tab. There will be a button that shows update options (on or off) and the version number. Another way to identify C2R is in Window's Programs & Features. With C2R, you no longer have the ability to add or delete Office applications.

Thanks very much marsmimar, your post has answered the question for me. It looks like I don't have the option of being able to see what updates are available in the normal Windows Update section, as this is only available to those with the Office 2013 Pro Plus version with a multi user licence.
I does not really worry me but it would be nice to be able to see what is going on. I do have my Office set to receive automatic updates which I think is sensible. The only problem I have is that the updates are usually done around the 13th of each month & my Internet usage period is the 16th so I have to careful that I have enough download limit left as the Office updates can be as high as 400mb.
It seems that all retail versions are automatically installed with the click to run feature & there are no alternatives.

Glad I was able to offer some limited help. Seems like Microsoft is steadily shifting towards a one-size-fits-all approach to its products. I guess they figure everyone should do it the Microsoft way or hit the highway.

I've never been accused to being the sharpest tool in the shed; but if someone has Office 2013 at home on a single machine, seems to me they might have different user requirements compared to someone else whose computer is one of many on a network. IMHO ... FWIW.
