Solved How do I remove ALL Windows Updates? Repair Install sayMy sys is newer

I know I "can" do this manually for each one listed in Installed Updates via the Programs and Features tool. but that will take forever.

I'm looking for a quicker automated way to uninstall all updates.

Before you ask why i want to do such a thing - I am trying to do an In Place repair install and windows upgrade setup tells me my system is newer than the one to be installed.

I'm hoping that uninstalling all updates including recent updates, will trick the installer into thinking this is still the same original copy that was installed two years ago (because IT IS).. I KNOW my win 7 install disk is much newer you see...

I also get this error:

This is silly. When I go to control panel there is no "Update device drivers" option. If I go to Device Manager and select my keyboard then tell it to search for new drivers, it does not find updated drivers. Can't find anything that actually says Keyboard Filter.



It's like MS doesn't know what other parts of it's OS are doing.. they are all using different tools and are getting different results.

Sounds like your install disc is not sp1 updated version, you could try downloading newer version which should then match installed OS Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life

I also have the SP 1 version you mentioned above. The error for it is the same as the Keyboard Filter error for the non SP 1 Home Premium dvd.

I tried both dvd's thinking the non SP1 dvd would be a better match for my system because I dont have SP 1 installed. My system came from a factory restore disk and was original installed on the laptop. I'd rather get the non SP 1 system working.. since Windows 98 I have never trusted Windows Updates or service packs.

It says this:

I double checked and i do have SP 1 installed.. dont remember when i would have been drunk enough to do That.

I fixed the keyboard issue.. it was the HP quick Launch buttons.

Now I just have the error: " Your current version of Windows is more recent than the version you are trying to upgrade to. Windows cannot complete the upgrade. "

Any ideas on how to bypass this?

Edit:

Fixed it.

I had to edit the setup.exe file for the windows disk to use Vista service pack 2 compatibility mode to bypass this error.
