How do I make my volume mute when my headphones come out?

Hey so I have (what I think) is a basic question.

I listen to the radio on my work computer.
What I am trying to do is have it so the volume is on mute all the time, but when I plug in my headphones it un-mutes. Then if the cord comes out by accident it goes to mute without playing any sound.

I hope this makes sense and that someone can help.
It is a realtek audio, and I am using the front audio port (if that matters).

To the best of my knowledge, there is no function for this native in windows. This function does exist in things like iPods via programming.

@briantheman890 - @poimetheus is right! there is no such function for this native in windows. This might be happening because of the radio software u r using on ur comp.
Just check if it happens while using some diff software like WMP/VLC/K-Lite Media Player Classic etc...

bro he asked it happens automatically! he dont do anything! So im sure it only depends on the software he is using!
eg- now a days when u play a movie in vlc without headphones then sound is coming out of inbuild speakers but when u put the headphones then still sounds comes from the in-build speakers only! you have to stop the movie and play it again to get the headphones working!
i know this might not happen in all pc's but still it happens! so the problem is in software he is using...

Regards

I'm well aware of what was said.
Stated in the OP, this is a WORK computer.

Are you aware many companies do not allow employees to install software on a company PC?
Doing so can result in getting fired!

I asked a question to try and start to figure out if there might be an alternative to not risk that.
I also understand the need to not disrupt others at work by accidentally unplugging headphones and the speakers suddenly start blasting...

You may well be right, and i might be wrong...
But on a work PC i would not risk my job with your suggestion by installing un-authorized programs if that breaks company rules...

regards

Definitely look into disabling audio devices aside from the headphone jack though. At the very least, you won't be blasting coworkers away by accident.

bro, I think you're the one misunderstanding the question here; It is NOT something that happens automatically, but rather something he wants to happen automatically. I.e. it is not a software-problem, but a search for a feature in OS or elsewhere :)

We want our computers to remain silent externally when headphones are unplugged, even if music is still playing.
