How do I remove a watermark from my desktop?

I have a watermark on my desktop with the information of our old IT person. I'm sure he placed it there. We have requested that he remove it several times without any luck. It has his name, number, email address, etc and it shows up on all desktops within our companies network. How do I remove this?

There are watermark removal programs, just Google it.

Here is a screenshot... and yes I have tried changing my background. It is a watermark of some sort that shows up on every display in the office.

Can we assume that the "old IT Person is no longer with the company? If this watermark is across all workstations accross the network them it is likely to be part of the universal log-in scripts on the network server(s).

In order to remove this watermark, who ever is in charge of the company systems will need to remove the code from the server, this must be requested through the company procedures.

We cannot interfere in the internal systems of a company, who decides to place restrictions on its computer system or users

I am in charge of the server. That is what I am asking. How do I remove this?

It looks like this is possibly a program similar to BGInfo which is part of the Sysinternals Suite from Microsoft BgInfo

This type of program is normally added to the Start-up of a workstation but in this case the call may well be in the start-up scripts on the server which run as each user logs in.

I'm afraid that if the previous system admin is not willing to co-operate it will be a case of trawling through the scripts on the server and/or the start-up of each workstation to first identify the program used, and then remove it.

I can only suggest that you look at one workstation, using Autoruns from Microsoft Sysinternals as this will show you all the items that start with windows, ( and I do mean All ), once you find the application that is likely generating the background you can disable it and test a reboot, this is best done without logging onto the server if this is possible.

If you find the call on the workstation and you disable it, run a normal login to the network, if the background returns, then there is some item in a server log-in script that is adding the call back into the workstation start-up this will need to be found and removed from the server. The need to edit the server files would also apply if the call is not found on the workstation.

Once all the changes are made to clean the one workstation and are acceptable the procedure may be repeated for all others - not a pleasant task but the only way I can suggest
