Solved How do I repair/reinstall Win 7 Pdo 64-Bit or do I need to?

I'm currently running Win 7 Pro 64-Bit SP1. A few months ago I encountered a viral infection that denied me access to my main user profile. This is my workstation so as a "quick-fix" another user profile was created so I could continue working without losing too much time. Now the time has come to correct all of my access issues and my questions are in several parts. Any help from the forum would be appreciated. I'm planning to re-install Win 7 Pro and then upgrade to Win 10.

Q1: Do I need to reinstall or repair Win 7?

Q2: If I don't, will my issues of access carry to Win 10?

Q3: If so, would it be better to deal with those issues in 10 or 7?

Q4: Is there a 64-bit Pro version of Win 10 or does basic 10 have all of the features of 7-64 Bit Pro?

Before you do anything, do you have a current backup, either data or an image backup. If not, do that before you do anything else.

Depends on what is wrong with your system.

Yes, it probably will carry over.

Deal with them in Windows 7. Backup, Clean Install Win 7 then restore data is what I would do. Then upgrade to 10.

Yes, there is. When you upgrade from 7 Pro X64 you will get 10 Pro X64.

Personally I would backup all data, reinstall 7, upgrade to 10, clean install 10 then restore data.

Are there particular things that I watch for?

Thanks for the information. I do have a recent back up both as an image and actual data. The virus was "winsys32.exe". It has essentially changed my access password to my primary profile and made it inaccessible. So now I have an alternate profile as a work around.

Q1: Will I be able to repair windows or reinstall windows from that second profile?

Profiles are irrelevant when reinstalling Windows, you just need to boot from your Windows media then format the drive which will wipe both user profiles anyway.

Why can't you change the password on the other account from the account you are using?

I've tried several times. Each time I go back the primary profile it tells me that it failed to load.
