The Maintenance & Service Guide has this:
Restoring using the dedicated recovery partition (select models only)

When using the dedicated recovery partition, there is an option to back up pictures, music and other
audio, videos and movies, recorded TV shows, documents, spreadsheets and presentations, e-mails,
Internet favorites and settings during this process.

To restore the computer from the recovery partition, follow these steps:

1. Access Recovery Manager in either of the following ways:
● Select Start > All Programs > Recovery Manager > Recovery Manager.
– or –
● Turn on or restart the computer, and then press esc while the “Press the ESC key for Startup
Menu
” message is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Then, press f11 while the “F11
(System Recovery)
” message is displayed on the screen.

2. Click System Recovery in the Recovery Manager window.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Does that make it go back to factory settings?

It's always best to backup all personal files before attempting system restore,
You should also refer to the h-p website for the correct process to use full system store.

You'll get much better performance if you Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
Everything you need is in the link.

An HP factory install is the worst possible Win7 one can have, with the biggest load of bloatware and duplicate utilities that have better versions built into Win7. No tech enthusiast would run such an install.

If you do decide to run HP System Recovery be sure to choose Minimal recovery if it is available on your model's choices once you boot the Recovery. It will be on the F11 menu and not the Recovery Disks, though you should make the disks first so you have a backup method if you want the inferior Factory install.
