How do I tell if I got rid of a virus?

Hello, I found a strange program on my computer. It's called BitGuard. i searched in google for some information about it and I found this BitGuard.exe Removal Guide and it says there, that it is really harmful, so now I am a little scared. I really don't know how it got on my pc. I followed the instructions that were given in the article, but how do I know if it's gone. My antivirus program did not detect it. So how do I know if it is all gone? Should I download another antivirus program and which one would be the best choice? Thank you.

You could run a scan with some of the following tools to make sure it's gone. Be sure to do a full system scan.

Malwarebytes (The free version will work fine.)

Did you download SpyHunter? Uninstall it if you did.

Even if you got rid of a virus, it may have left damage in your system that will not get repaired by the removal. Best is always to set back to an earlier restore point (from when the virus was not yet in the system) or to a prior image - if available.
