You can have a look at this website which has a bunch of benchmarks...
Notebookcheck: Mobile Graphics Cards - Benchmark List

There is also a comparison listing the tiers and what each graphic card can handle at this link...
Notebookcheck: Comparison of Graphic Cards

Lastly, there is a chart with how well each mobile graphic card performs in certain games...
Notebookcheck: Computer Games on Laptop Graphic Cards

You can decide whether NVIDIA or ATI is better. ;)
I think generally Intel + NVIDIA laptops have better processors but worse graphic cards and AMD + ATI laptops are the opposite. I don't think there will ever be an Intel + ATI laptop.

better in terms of what?

price?

performance?

build quality?

battery power drain?

transisitor count?

ask better questions, you will get better answers.

billybest has already helped you out a lot - doing a lot of your work for you.

look at the figures he's provided, and make up your own mind - don't let others do your thinking for you.

did you look at the links that billybest provided? there's lots of performance information in there, broken down into individual games. only you know what sort of games you like toplay.

laptops do not have graphics card - they have a built-in chip which is pretty much non-replaceable.

a very simple rule of thumb is the more expensive, the better performance.

ok - look at the system specs of laptops around that price-range.

make a note of the graphics chip, then use the links provided above to compare performance in the sort of games that you normally play.

also note that you won't get the same game performance with a laptop as you would with a desktop, but for that sort of money, you should get something reasonable.
