Solved How much of a HDD performance improvement does Disk Defragmenter give?

Anyone know how of a performance improvement disk defragmenter gives , I know it takes a while so just wondering if it's worth my time?

It will speed up disk I/O operations - how much is debateable as we are talking very fast operations to begin with.

But, as the PC is used and data is written to the hard drive, many times its spread out over many areas on the hard drive and thus it requires more seeks and reads to gather all the data for a particular operation or document. Defragmenting the drive assembles everything for a program or data into one contiguous (adjacent) area on the hard drive thus cutting down on the time it takes to retrieve something from the hard drive.

Hey people I have recently used disk defragmenter and I have disabled everything on my laptop including disk defragmenter.i then realised wheat I did and I could not change it because I could ot open disk defragmenter.i can now do nothing and really need your guys help to be able to do all of the things I could do before.
