to be honest, i have done everything i can think of, AHCI was switched off, the sata drivers were slipstreamed into the ISO, i dont know what else to try

Yes as a matter of fact it does, that may be the issue why it won't install on an SATA machine.

Yeah that sucks, too bad they didn't add the ability to search thumb drives etc for drivers to SP3. Its times like that that I'm glad I bought my USB floppy drive.

Doesn't Intel have their own storage controllers, would they be the same?

i honestly dont know... i know the nvidia drivers for my chipset come with storage controllers i would assume they were the right ones, do Intel do generic ones then?

ARGH! still not working, i downloaded the one SATA controller that i could find from Intel but still nothing, this is annoying me now, im going to make a thread in Installation and setup see if anyone there has a solution

Whats it listed as under "storage controllers" in device manager? Also check your motherboard manual for info on the SATA controller and for info on installing the driver. I know you know how to install the driver but the instructions in your manual may help you determine what SATA controller you actually have.

im downloading drivers direct from ECS atm see if that works, if not i might actually have to give up on it
