Last week I decided to update to Windows Seven after a LONG time with Vista. Anyway at the moment I have the dual OS start, and I don't want to use windows Vista any more, so I want to get rid of it.
My problem is that I have installed the Windows Seven on a different Hard Disc Drive, and if I ask my PC to boot from that HDD, it shows the message "bootmgr is missing".
Well thanks to other posts that I read on this forum I have a vague idea of why this happens, but I haven't got the chance of reading the one where it says how to fix it (I'm sure there are a few).

In conclussion, what I want to do is to format the HDD where my old OS is, and I can't do this without fixing the boot problem first. Is there any way to do this?

Did you have both drives connected when you tried to install 7 ?

Was the 7 install successfull ?

If not, just re install windows 7.

Dis connect the Vista drive, you can re connect it and format it later.

You can always try startup repair on the Windows 7 drive, but it may not work, you could have windows 7 installed in 15 minutes.

Please post back a screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image.

As Brian says you should have unplugged the Vista drive because otherwise Win7 configures a Dual Boot using the boot files on Vista.

As long as Win7 wasn't installed to a Logical partition its fairly easy to move the Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD - Windows 7 Forums. Once Win7 partition is labeled System Active in Disk MGmt, it shoudl boot itself and you can remove or delete in Disk Mgmt the Vista drive to repartition it.

Thx gregrocker, that program was the thing I needed. It was fixed in two seconds, thank you very much. I will mark this post as solved.
