How to change Computer name and completly remove User?

I ordered a notebook for my wife. The builder added Win7, etc. Now under system properties, <my name>-PC is listed as the computer name.

My wife was added as a User with Admin rights. And, <my name> was removed.

Only two options show for Log-in - My Wife and a Guest (not activated).

On a file download, the file appears in C:\users\<my name>\download.

Without reinstalling everything, is it possible to wipe <my name> out of the system and have everything tied to wife's name?

You could delete your user account leaving only your wife's administrator account on the computer.

Thank you. Your suggestion did partially solve the naming issues.

Now, the NB and the Desktop have different names and the Network seems to like that.

But, <my name> is hardwired into the system. ..\users\folder lists only two users 1) public and <my name>. Not possible to change <my name>. And, that user account contains over 1 GB files. Most likely the Win 7, Office and email system files.

Bill,

The only true way to change the name of the user profile folder is to create a new account with the name you wanted, and delete the old account after copying over any files you wanted from it first.

However, this may be an option for you.
