How to change how big the windows are when you maximize them

Hello, I am new to the forum.
Can someone help me with the problem. I want to change how big the windows are when I maximize them, because I don't want them to be full size. Even if it is third party app, can someone help?

Welcome to the forum.

What you want is not possible, at least not without third party software which I know nothing about.
The dimensions of a maximized windows are clearly defined relative to the dimensions of the screen. This is not a user setting. A window that does not completely cover the screen is by definition not a maximized window.

If Aero Snap isn't enough, you might want to look into a tiling window manager. Reddit has a decent thread on the topic. If you have nVidia graphics, there's nView.
