How to connect to the tv!! Help please

What is the best way to connect a SONY laptop with a VGA port (only) to a TV . Which wires are needed for both sound and video? Is it possible to connect VGA to HDMI? .. or perhaps other ways..

Well it would help alot if we knew what video card you have, along with the rest of your system specs.

VGA only laptop must connect to VGA port TV, use TV's line in as audio input.
No, you can't convert VGA -> HDMI...

Zepher, in case you're wondering... that's the worst $80 you'll ever spend, and truthfully, converting an analogue signal back to digital will get you degraded picture, not to mention the audio is degraded too (quite much). Most of flat panel TVs will have VGA/analogue connection of some kind, it is not wise to spend it on a converter box. Unless you are stuck with an old XBOX 360 pre HDMI, and you have a HDMI only TV and you want it to connect to your monitor whatever it takes...

As far as computers goes... use what's on the computer, if it's VGA, use VGA - plug it to VGA input. Most TVs will be able to use audio line in (or some have PC audio line in) for audio with PCs. If it has DVI, you can use DVI->HDMI dongle (you might lose digital audio using this method, but you can use analogue audio). It's same as "can I put a V6 on a motorcycle?"-kind of question, yes you can, and you won't have it any other way...

Ouch, sorry for the rant... that was out of line... It's the OP's call - whether he/she want to spend that $80 for it or not... Economically, I'd say it's not worth the money. Practically, it's not worth the hassle to bring another box just to connect an already mobile device to a TV, it's another box with it's own power supply. Sensibly, it's not sensible to spend that money for that kind of "tech"... Back to you, paparoma...
