If you delete a program the name stays in the msconfig list. How do you get rid of these programs? I use Revo Uninstall Pro to delete my programs.

Without starting a new thread.... How about the Task Bar listings. In the list of icons to show at the taskbar a program will still be there even though it is deleted.

Thank you!

your taskbar query: are you talking about shortcuts that you've pinned yourself?

if the installer program didn't put them there, then the uninstaller won't look there to delete, as it doesn't keep track of what you do with icons/shortcuts.

you'll have to house-keep your own taskbar in that case. :)

After you click on Customize on the white triangle, your list of Icons that you want to put in the Taskbar shows Icons for programs that I no longer have.

I use CCleaner to keep things cleaned up. Which selection is it exactly that delets them?

...

this should help to clean up the notification area: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/13102-notification-area-icons-reset.html

the taskbar refers to the whole strip including the start-orb, pinned shortcuts and running programs and the notification area (once called system tray), which is the bit on the right-hand side by the clock.

I'm sorry guys. The Icons in the Notification Area. Also, in Msconfig I have the same programs listed 2 or 3 times, or from previously delected programs. Look at these screen shots and see if it helps explain what I am trying to explain.

In the Notification Area picture at the bottom is SRSLabs, I deleted that program awhile ago. How do you get rid of these old items?

In the MSCONFIG picture you can see I unchecked, stopped some programs over a month ago. Some of these I don't even have installed anymore.

Like I said, I use CCleaner but maybe I am not selecting the correct box to clean.

No problem Steven,

To remove the old notification area icons: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/13102-notification-area-icons-reset.html

Unchecking the boxes in msconfig will only disable them to not have them run at startup, and does not actually delete them from the startup program list. To remove the startup program entries that you do not want, you can delete it's entries in the registry locatons in OPTION FOUR of the tutorial here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1401-startup-programs-change.html
