Solved How to disable removeable media in guest account.

Hi to all seven forum.
I have 2 accounts in windows seven. one Administrator and other is guest. I want to lock the usb device and any body could not able to connect remove able device usb in guest account. (only remove abl devices, not usb ports.cos my mouse and keyboard is also usb, and remove able device lock only on guest account, not in administrator.)
is there any simple way to do this without using any app.?

You might be able to use the "specific users and groups" link for the "Guests" group in METHOD ONE of the tutorial below to be able to do what you are wanting.

your method is great Brink. but this is for all user. I want to block remove able media only on guest account..

If you create a group policy for only the Guests group using the "specific users and groups" link in step 1 of OPTION ONE, then the group policy setting in it will only be applied to the Guest account.

and what is the next step if I find which one is Guest.? I mean how I add Guest account group policy to remove able storage access.?

Well, it doesn't appear that you can add the Guest group after all. :huh:

What may work better for you, is to create a "Standard user" account instead of a Guest account, then use the steps above to create a group policy for only the user name of the "Standard user" account using the "specific users and groups" link in step 1 of METHOD ONE of this tutorial below. Afterwards, you could follow the rest of the steps in METHOD ONE to apply that setting in the created custom Group Policy for the standard user.

okay dear, I created a stander account named "HOME" and create and save its group policy to my desktop. what should I do now.? double click to open it and reached to "Administrator templates -->System--> Remove Able storage and disable it.? it will lock the remove able storage.? or I should do something else.?

Correct. You would use Method One in the "Home" Group Policy Editor to have it block access to all removable Hard Disk, CD/DVD, Floppy and USB Floppy drive, WPD (Windows Portable Devices), and Tape drive media for the "Home" user.

tell me just one more thing. If Home group policy msc file which is place in my Administrator desktop is incidentally remove or lost. how I got it back.? creating another new, or what.?

FWIW: I would always create an image of my C drive before making any changes in the policies for users
as you could end up creating a rule that mistakenly applies to all, including the administrator which can end
up ruining your whole day.

Yep, if lost, you could just create a new "Home" group policy to use instead without losing any of the settings that you set in the other one.
