How to force a hyperlink to open in IE?

If a user is running Chrome or Firefox
and the target web page is only going to run in IE
(example: Browser Check),
is there a way to force the URL to open in IE?

You can create a desktop shortcut to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe", then right-click it, click properties, and change the target to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" <your url>.

Also for firefox, theres the IE tab extension. But you'll need to locate it for the latest firefox version.

If it's something you need frequently, there are some utilities to make it convenient. One is:

Another is not browser only. I wrote a hotkey utility called Selector. It's sort of a launch pad that uses selected text or clipboard text as the param to the program. In your example case, copy the link to clipboard, hit the hotkey, select the Clipboard Text radio button(default is Selected Text) then double click on the app in the list.

You add apps to the list by hitting the hotkey, then dragging and dropping either the exe file itself, or a shortcut, onto the popup window. The program is also very cool for picking stuff out of an editor as parameter. Select any text in any app and pass it as param to a program.
