How to get office updates as windows update option?

How do I get windows update to show "other microsoft products" as a checkbox option in the control panel? I've tried the opt-in screen when you first start Office on a fresh install and it didn't work. I also downloaded the latest Win7 Update Agent. That didn't work also...

What version of Office are you using?. If you are using Office 2013 updates do not show in the usual Windows Updates at all. Office 2013 updates occur automatically in the background. You can set Updates by opening one of the Office applications, select File & then select Office Account & you will see a box saying Office Updates click on that & drop down menu will show some Update alternatives & you can get it to Update Now if you wish to see if you are up to date. See attached screen shot.

You can check in Control Panel, Programs & Features, Microsoft Office 2013 to see when the last update version was installed & it series number.

@ eatup. Is this thread associated with the one you have in Windows Updates & Activation. If it is please don't use multiple threads for the same problem.

^ Sorry, I couldn't get any help from the other subforum. Anyways...

I did it...! Thru the "more info [for other microsoft products]" link when you open the "check for updates" page.

The crucial part was to add compatibility mode in IE11 for microsoft.com and reboot. Otherwise, the site will just show you a generic "how to open windows update from the start menu" page. I can't stress enough, Windows must be rebooted in order to get IE11 to show what's meant to be shown...
