Solved How to go to IE10 from IE11 if it was never installed

Good - system files are in good shape.

Please restart your system if you haven't already

Hide IE 10 and IE 11 updates in WU and check for updates again - always hide the higher versions if offered, you can unhide them as you need them.

I'm thinking that you might want to use the offline IE9 installer,
but not yet ... ok? See what WU offers after you hide the 10 & 11 updates

Ok I hid the IE10 and IE11 updates and rebooted. Here are the available updates now. Do I want to install them at this point, or try the IE9 executable again?

Ok, I installed the three updates I posted above, and went into Installed Updates to verify that, all of the updates you listed are now installed. Checked for new updates and these popped in. Should I install these now or attempt to install IE9 or 10 before hand?

KB2913152 is an optional update I'm showing
Windows Photo Viewer prints white lines when you use an XPS driver to print photos in Windows
Could be recommended but I show it in the Optional section not Important section when it was released 12/10/2013

I was trying to avoid installing the IE 10 pre-requisites thinking they might be part of the 9c59 error. I'm not sue if IE 9 will be offered with the platform update installed.

I think the last time I went through this exercise on my machine, IE 10 went and got the pre-reqs - not sure on that though - too much testing ... too many OSes (Xp, Vista, 7, 8, 10 - Linux and Android - Sheesh what a geek!)

Anyway, not to change the path you're on - keep those four WU offers in mind, particularly the platform update 2670838

My suggestion is to keep downloading any important / critical updates until nothing is offered. If IE 10 or 11 is offered, hide it (I think they're already hidden though).

If IE 9 is not offered, check the hidden updates and restore IE 9.

A restart might be a good idea between WU batches, even if WU doesn't require it.

Hang in there, ... the 9c59 error has different causes and you're trying to get as clean a base as possible.

Could you post a screen shot of the hidden updates? Thanks!

Alright I went ahead and installed the rest of the updates and rebooted. There were no new updates avialable, so I went into Installed Updates and searched for KB2882822 and it was already installed on April 4th. Then I went to Hidden Updates and it shows IE10 and 11 only. Guess we just go ahead and try IE10 again at this point correct?

So just to clerify, all of these updates are installed. However when I go to the IE10 for Windows 7 Prerequisites page Prerequisites for installing Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 7 SP1, I am missing KB2533623 and KB2731771.

Since I am not seeing an update option to IE9, should I install these two updates before tyring IE10?

Well guys this has been exciting, but apparently futile. I just tried the IE10 Windows Update again, and received the 9C59 error once again.

Did you download the last two updates you posted ? if so roll back to that point before installing them or uninstall them,

No I didn't install IE9. I have never received IE9 as an option in Windows Update. Just IE10 and IE11. And I CAN install IE11 for whatever reason, just not IE10.

And no I didn't install the last two updates. I downloaded them from the prerequisite site, but when I went to install them, I got a message saying they weren't applicable to my computer (or something similar to that).

So just to be sure,

I downloaded the Readiness Tool,
Rebooted the PC
Double Clicked the "Windows6.1-KS947821-V33-x64.msu" file
It launched an installer for "Installing Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) Update 1 of 1"
And now appears to be stalled, with the progress bar showing no green in it at all.

The System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) runs when installed - let it finish, it only looks hung

It downloads system cabs (big!) and then then runs similar to SFC - so it takes a while.

After SURT finishes, please run the SFC again now that you're getting the 9c59 error.
Please follow the instructions in OPTION TWO of http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Copy C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log to your Desktop (it is a protected file so you cannot attach the original)

Attach the copy of the entire CBS.log to a new post.
