How to move Page File From C: Partition to another Partition ?

I am trying to keep the size of Image Files as small as possible. I'm told that it helps to keep these files from getting too big if I move the Page File away from the drive being imaged - in this case , my C: bootable drive.

I'm not sure how to do this and would appreciate some advice in this moving operation , please ?

Hello.

The imaging program I use doesn't include the page/swap file in the created image; have a look at this tutorial at the link below for additional information and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Unless you have 2 phisical disks, moving pagefile to another partition gives no performance at all, and as bare Foot Kid told ya, almost all imaging apps skip pagefile and hybernation file.

Thank you for the very detailed reply - very interesting and instructive.

I note also your comments re: the fact that your imaging program does not include the page file in the created image. I'll check that out with my image file folk and see if that is also possible with them .

I use Paragon HDM 2010 Suite, what imaging/backup S/W are you using; I'm sure someone here has info on the product you use and would be glad to assist you.

Thanks again. I use BING (BootIt-NG) from terabyteunlimited.com.

I'm very happy with it and have no complaints but , as far as I'm aware , it doesn't have the faclity to exclude the page file when creating image files.

This is not a big deal as far as I'm concerned but now that I've been made aware that there are apps with this facility of automatically excluding the page file , I'm curious.

Have a look at this one.
I did - seems impressive . I'm presently in contact with Terabyte on this subject - as I say its not a big deal and I'm used to BING - it works independantly of any OS unlike almost all other Imaging Systems and , although its a bit "geeky" , once you get into it its extremely reliable. Thanks for the help all the same.

I just found that it is possible to avoid including the Page File in an Image by using a slightly different variation of the BING Image software - for info of anyone reading this these versions are called "Image for DOS" and "Image for Windows" . Both can be downloaded from the "terabyteunlimited.com" site. Unlike "BING" these other versions are not free.
