Solved How to open iso?

This might seem like a stupid question but I am using a machine which I am not familiar with which has on it an OS (windows 8) I am not familiar with. What type of program should I use to open a Windows 7 iso?

Hello Arayfo,

If you like, you could use a free program like the 9.32 alpha version of 7-Zip to extract the contents of the ISO to a folder.

The .iso you don't open. You burn it to CD or flash drive and use it for installation.

A windows 7 .iso is to install a whole Windows 7 system - which may not be so easy on a Windows 8 sytem because of the UEFI and secure boot. Plus it will delete the installed Windows system unless you set it up for double boot or in virtual (which is the easiest if you want both systems). In both cases you do need a valid product key.

.isos for programs work a bit differently. If you have questions, post back.

No, sorry, I don't want to open the iso itself. What I mean is I want to download a file from Windows 7 Direct Download Links so that I can access the iso. From there I will upload the iso into Windows DVD/USB download tool. From what I understand, you do not extract the iso prior to using the download tool.

I know it might seem like a strange question, but this pc is going to prompt me to choose a program to open the file. The first time I tried using utorrent and I think the iso file became corrupted resulting in an unsuccessful download.

Don't use uTorrent to download the ISO....just use your webrowser.

An .iso of Windows you download and then you burn it to DVD or Flash drive. I recommend DVD - is safer. Use ImgBurn. It is dead simple.
