Brink, we went through this problem of individual folder settings not being saved with Vista and it was solved with Windows Explorer Folder View settings - Vista Forums .Hello Marcus, Is this in a Library folder? If so, it will not remember a folder view setting like this in them. Arrange by is only available in the Library folders. The arrange by options will vary depending on the folder template of the library folder. While all Included Folders and subfolders in a library will always share the same folder view. You can have separate "Arrange by" view settings in each folder in the library though.
The problem is the same as vista and XP usually. The BagMRU size isn't big enough to accomodate all the folders, When it runs out of space, it loses folder settings. The following registry file ups the MRU size to 20,000 folders:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell]
"BagMRU Size"=dword:00004e20
Sure. Whenever I choose to change the View (Extra large, large, mwsium, small, details) or the sort order, it changes it for all folders on the computer. There doesn't seem to be a way to specify these and save them for individual folders.Hello Cyberbiker...Couuld you explain what problem you are having to see if something else may be behind it?http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/41198-folder-view-set-default-all-folders.html
It does seem to be within all folders included in the Documents Library. An easy solution would be to remove the folders from the library, however, I do not have a choice for Exclude from Library when I right click on any of the folders in the Library, as instructed in the MS support guidance. There is a choice on all of them for Include in Library.Cyberbiker, Is this only from within a library location? All included folders in a library will share the same folder view.
If not, then resetting folder views back to default should allow you to afterwards.
From what help docs in MS support say, the Library does not contain documents and folders, it contains shortcuts to them. All my files are already in C:\Users\(user-name)\My Documents. However, the top level folders in My Documents also appear in theCyberbiker, Since this is in the Documents library, you could place your files in your actual C:\Users\(user-name)\My Documents folder instead of from the library location. Next, to make it easier to open, you can change the Start Menu "Documents" button to open to your user folder location instead of the default library location...
well i managed to get my views as i want themthx again
took awhile tho
