How to remove Windows 10 upgrade updates in Windows 7 and 8

I support about 30 computers for family, friends, friends of friends and a few strangers. Some people contact me every week with problems. Others can go for months without any issues. Such a hobby I've picked for myself

I support another 40 computers at work... but at work, I can push various settings out from my desktop computer.

Hi all... my first post ever here actually, I usually can fix stuff myself, but this is bugging me.

I've been having problems with my Win7 lately. Call me a conspiracy theory nut but I have no idea what happened and I am starting to think it could have been some updates. And with those updates I mean the updates for making your pc Win10 ready.

My problems: I suddenly lost audio. I can't even start the audio and audio endpoint services. Getting an error but I can't find anything on the internet regarding this stuff. Second, my color management tool can't save its settings. Also a weird error.

This all just happened out of the blue. Of course I have scanned with the usual malware/virus scanners. Googled hours.

Last but not least, my /sfc was broken. It just would not work. Then I found an article about an update breaking /sfc, this was a new update.

Anyone else in here who have had those problems? I don't want to do a clean install. A repair install gives me another stupid error without information, except for telling me to restart. That's it.

Again, I have a weird feeling with those updates. I mean one of those broke my /sfc and Microsoft admitted the problem. I don't think it's weird to think that maybe, they released updates that break random things like audio, to make you upgrade to 10.

Windows update client update/10 installer (although they haven't labelled it as such this time, sneaky buggers!). Was optional but now classed as Important.

I see nothing to indicate that this update is a "10 installer". It merely says that it fixes high CPU usage when installing the W10 update. For all we know, this patch fixes high CPU usage when installing other updates too.

After the stunts MSpy (aka MS lies) has pulled, I no longer trust ANY update to Windows Updates. I haven't had a problem with high CPU usage when installing updates (I suspect the updates having high CPU issues were Win 10 related and I've avoided those) so I doubt I'll miss it.

I have 4 Microsoft Office programs installed, there were a lot for that, most of them unneccessary.

I love how I get updates for Outlook, Access, or One Note I don`t even have them installed

And 8 security updates for basically the same thing.

Gadgets have been a known security issue for a long time now, and 8 or so of todays updates had to do with someone hacking in to your PC, ya right do people actually sit around and do that type of stuff ?

Join the Army, do something useful with your life already :shock:

Uninstalled the security updates and now the gadgets run again

Have to nail down which update killed them, but the description is basically the same for each one .

Yep ie11 killed gadgets but this kind of solved that :/

No, they apparently are taking a breather until the next attack early next year when they will start automatically downloading and installing it to all computers that have fully automatic updating enabled.

KB3097877 was not selected (on my PC).

Perhaps it checks to see if you are running Gadgets (I'm using Rainmeter).

That one is causing some issues with Outlook apparently:

That could just be Windows 10 though, I'm not sure as I don't use outlook myself.
