How to remove Windows 10 upgrade updates in Windows 7 and 8

There are various reasons I can't take pain meds (other than very occasionally). I'm on a 81mg twice daily aspirin regimen so I can't take any more aspirin. Because of the aspirin regimen, I'm not supposed to take NSAIDs (ibuprofen, etc.) except once in a blue moon and then I have to make sure it is with a full meal and is no more than 200mg.

Because of other meds I'm on, I can't take acetaminophen to avoid overstressing my liver. I have to have semiannual blood work to make sure my liver and kidneys are still functioning alright.

I'm subject to motion sickness so any pain meds that make the least bit dizzy will make me nauseated, which is worse for me than most pain. That rules out any pain meds stronger than ibuprofen.

I can't have codeine because it causes severe depression.

I thought after Microsoft mistakenly( I wonder) checked an upgraded boxed, they would learn not to do it again. That is not going to help those that dual or triple boot or computers that cant be upgrade to windows 10.

I never thought I would say these words. I wish I had Vista with the latest service pack, I heard it is really close to windows 7.

Vista with SP2 is as good as W7. I had it until recently, when I accidentally overwrote it installing Linux. Seriously considered reinstalling it, but bringing it up to date was just too much, considering it's EOL is less than 1.5 years away. (No, I didn't have an image. I mean I did, but that also got wiped out. No big deal).

I tend to install most updates Thelma, unless it's Windows 10 related or the new telemetry updates, I can't see any need for these on my system as I have no intention of upgrading to 10.

Optional updates like time zone or currency updates, I just install. Like to keep my exclude list to a minimum.
Unless it's a buggy update, but so far I haven't really run into any issues with any.

What does KB3083324 do?

However all I can say is that removing KB3083324 along with all updates listed below and force installing KB3075851 after resetting Windows Update Components and running Advanced Disk Cleanup (including Windows Updates Cleanup) solved the high RAM usage issue (by svchost.exe) that many users are reporting when running a windows update check.

Also, KB2977759 is the same update as KB2952664 (telemetry nonsense). The first one is pushed to 7 RTM (without SP1), the second is for SP1. So you'll probably only have one or the other. Why they didn't just make this one update I'm not sure.

You'll need group policy editor for that Thelma, that's not available in 7 home.

There have been a few different versions of KB2952664. I have noticed a few people saying they needed to remove it more than once.

I see nothing to indicate that this update is a "10 installer". It merely says that it fixes high CPU usage when installing the W10 update. For all we know, this patch fixes high CPU usage when installing other updates too.

It has exactly the same files as the previous Windows update client versions just newer versions.
This is one of the files, they've just worded the update differently.

OK a 10 downloader would be probably be more accurate then. There has yet to be an actual "10 update" which doesn't require user intervention, that's true.
These are also the updates which add the group policy option to block it from downloading.
Either way, if people don't want 10 then can choose to ignore the updates or set the Group Policy. I have them installed with the group policy set. Some people may not want them at all if they're avoiding all 10 updates.

Apparently, I oversee more computers that I can keep up with. I found one yesterday that I had not set the registry to prevent offering the user W10. Disk Cleanup took way too long to get rid of the 6GB of W10 files and the other stuff that it did :-(

6GB oooof! Imagine that if someone is on a limited data allowance!
How many computers are you dealing with UNI?
It's becoming a pain... Group Policies, Reg Settings, changing from Optional to Recommended, various different updates to look out for.

Not trying to push it very hard are they? :roflmao:
