How to repair install on Upgrade Version of Windows 7

My computer has been running the Upgrade version of Windows 7 (from Vista) for two or three years. I want to perform a repair install, but wonder whether it would be possible from a new, current Windows 7 disk.

I have kept up with the updates. Can anyone offer advice?

If you mean from Windows 7 HP with sp1, Yes.

My intention is to purchase a new Windows 7 SP1 32bit, Home Premium, retail version, and go with that. My currently installed version has been updated to SP1, but I was concerned that its history, including the upgrade from Vista, might complicate matters. Thanks for the help.
