how to set up 2 os on 2 hdd's

Hello Nice Person!

I wanted to have a system where I have 2 HDDs one with Vista Ultimate 64Bit and one with Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit and be able to boot to which one I desire during startup. But it only gives me one choice in the boot menu that is whichever dominate hdd I am on at the time of booting. So I have to hit the delete key and click in setup the hdd order which is not overwhelming but I would like to have the choice in the Boot menu to which I desire.

You actually have the best dual boot method now if you can find the key to press to give you a one-time Boot Menu (normally F10 or F12) to interrupt the default HD from booting if you want the other one.

A Windows-managed dual boot makes the HD's interdependent and harder to remove later.

But you can create one if you wish using EasyBCD 2.0 beta, by adding the missing OS on Add/Remove tab.

You can boot to the Install DVD and open a command window by going to repair and selecting command prompt or go to the second window and hit Shift+F10.

In the command window type the following followed by enter.

bootrec /rebuildbcd

This will scan your system for a Vista or Win 7 install that is not currently on the boot menu. If it finds one, it will ask if you want to add. Allow it to do so then reboot. You should have both OSes in the boot menu.
