How to Stop Windows 10 Upgrade

Today everyone got an evil little popup that says we're automatically scheduled for a Windows 10 upgrade. After being pestered by these popups for months, it was quite natural for my mom to just close the popup instead of clicking Cancel Upgrade. I would have done the same thing if her computer hadn't started upgrading before I booted my computer.

My Windows 7, when I canceled the upgrade, said I could easily revert back to Windows 7 within 31 days if I tried the upgrade.

My questions:
1. Will there be any side effects of upgrading and reverting if I decide to try out Windows 10?
2. Is it easy to revert back?
3. Is there any way to stop the upgrade while it's happening? (My mom's is a Windows 8).

Remove KB3035583 and then if it shows up again, deselect it and right click on it and "Hide". Reboot the PC and the Get Win 10 icon should be gone. Keep a check on the updates as the KB3035583 can appear again.

However, if you want to try Win 10, first backup any user data to some other removable media in case it gets inadvertently deleted. Or another way is to back up (Image) the entire drive to an external drive, using a program such as the free Macrium Reflect (if you don't have a backup program). Then if you don't like Win 10 its merely the process of restoring your drive from the backup.

Yea win-10 return trip back probably won't work very well so you should at the least create a system image to another hard drive in advance of upgrading

Thanks, everyone! In the end we just let it finish the upgrade and now we have it switching back to Windows 8. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

Hope so too but system imaging is a lot more reliable at undoing upgrades.
