Hello, my IE9 is playing up and I think a simple re-installation would fix the problem except, I can't seem to find it anywhere in "Programs and Features" or "Uninstall an update" so I was wondering where else (if anywhere) it could be?

Thank you.

I have already numerous times and have been through each, one-by-one and still not found it.

I already referred to that which is how I got to "Uninstal an update" but I can't find it anywhere within.

have you looked into your c: windows program files?

have you tried looking into your c: windows program files?

I hadn't thought of that. Yes it is there but how does that help me in uninstalling, unless it's alright if I just delete the whole Internet Explorer file?

If I remember correctly, it was readily installed when I brought the laptop, if not I would have installed it immediately after setting the laptop up.

Unfortunately I don't have a restore point anywhere near close to that date and in fact the furthest away is only under a month ago although I thought I thought I had created one much longer go.

I thought I'd double-check just to see if IE9 shows in Installed Updates:

IE9.JPG

Microsoft are adamant IE9 should be installed alongside other Windows Updates.

How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9?

I'm just wondering whether it would pay you to disable IE9 in Programs & Features, and then try installing IE8.

Thank you for replying.

Like I said in my first post, IE9 does not show up in both "Programs and Features" and "Installed Updates" so I can't disable it from there.

Don't do that. I have twice tried uninstalling IE9 that way. Both times, a system file check (sfc) afterwards showed many issues. I ended up restoring from backup both times.

So you install it, there is no uninstall. So you try restoring back to *right* before the install, and your system is screwed up. Nice going MS.

Hello, thank you for replying.

Just did what you said and now IE9 is no longer opening (I'm guessing this is what is supposed to be happening?). What do I do now, just proceed to re-install IE9?

Hi there Ricky.

Reboot, check the feature box again, and reboot.
Windows will re-install the IE9 feature.
