So my xp system crashed that had this printer wireless at the time. So we bought a new win7 pc, had to reconfigure the WEP and so on and our network is working fine (lap top on wireless connected). But I get errors when installing the hp C4599 printer drivers for wireless wep. It just fails saying "critical error" and backs up, request error report to be sent to HP, etc. I went through and resetup our network and all is fine with our wifi when it comes to our laptop etc. Background: had printer hooked up to XP pc that crashed. Attempting to install on new Win7 pc with SW from HP site since disk that came with printer says it's is not compatible. Fine but why do I get error saying to unplug my usb cable from PC to printer (not connected) and go through a default troubleshooting step by step? Anyone know what's up?

I am using the latest download from the site. I reset the wireless settings on the front of the printer to default w/o luck. I downloaded and ran from HP the wireless network diag utility and if printed out page saying it fails to find my SSID. Don't understand since my laptop and PS3 run on my wireless network no problem.

So the print out of the test concludes the printer could not find the access point and to ensure it's powered on (yes) and to ensure the SSID matches exactly. So for some reason the printer is still trying to access SSID from my crashed system and not allowed to connect to my new Win7 network because the SSID do not match? (I did redo the router setup via it's ipaddress and changed network names + WEP). How do I change or allow the printer access the wireless router w/o having to change my SSID to accommodate the printer?
