Solved add ssd to Compaq 6710b

I have 2 laptops I use for djing. I would like to upgrade them to 500gig ssd's.
Can you see any issues?
I just plan on doing a ghost backup to external hd and then using ghost restore disc to reinstall the os and data as per the way I just did my main PC.
Yes I have the ssd bug. Performance is amazing.

Just need to make sure the laptop is capable of ssd.
This says it is..

I am going to follow this tutorial except I have a backup on external drive.
So I will simply swap the hard drive with the new sdd,
boot with the ghost recovery disc
And choose the external hdd backup file
and use the settings as per this video.

The only thing I am worried about is that the new ssd won't be recognised by the system.
But I think ghost fixes all that?
Anyway will know soon, picking up ssd today and will update when done for others.

I had just upgrade to SSD.
Using Mini Tools Partition Wizard to copy resize the primary active partition to be able to copy to SSD.
Swap the HDD to SSD.
Boot to Mini Tools Partition wizard to confirm the primary partition of Windows 7 OS is active.

1st boot up, then it detected the SSD and update the driver, and ask to restart.
After restart, there are no issue or problem.
End.

Thanks for the tip.
I did it this way without hassle at all.
Used Ghost 15.
Made backup onto external hd (It backed up the d partition also)
Swapped to new ssd.
Booted with Ghost recovery cd.
Chose the restore file. Made sure c and d were checkmarked
Did nothing else.
Took 2 hrs as I had a lot of songs on d.

Rebooted perfectly without issue.


However I did not notice a huge improvement on speed so I have reverted back to the hdd and am going to use the ssd on my wifes laptop as she is using win 7.

I have read that xp does not handle ssd as good as win 7 so that is prob why I didn't see a huge improvement.

I also changed to ssd for my main pc a few days back with win 7 and the difference is amazing.
hence why I got the ssd bug.
