Weird DVD drive issue on laptop

Hi,

I have just purchased Fritz Chess 13 from Excalibur publishing, which is a game installed through inserting a DVD and following prompts etc. But my laptop (ASUS A53E) won't recognize the disk. More accurately, it recognizes SOMETHING (after several moments) but says that the disk is blank: "4.26 GB free of 4.26 GB". When I double click, there are no files apparent on the disk.

Here's the weird thing though: when I put the Fritz DVD into my computer, 'run fritz setup' pops up straight away, as expected. And when I insert other DVDs into my LAPTOP, they work fine. So the problem is seemingly with neither with the Fritz disk OR the laptop's DVD drive, yet there clearly is a problem - so I am really confused and frustrated.

I have only tried inserting film DVDs into my laptop thus far, which have all worked fine. I rang up a technician on my 'Whatever Happens' insurance scheme, and he had literally no suggestions and told me to go into my nearest branch. Really hoping someone can help me out on here and save me lots of time!

I am in no way a computer expert so assume no prior knowledge in your explanations!

Cheers,

Isaac

Hi Isaac Welcome to Seven Forums .. This is a weird problem you have . As you have stated the Drive seems to be working perfectly .. Actually this has happened to me too in the past .. But usually with older software . Only have one suggestion Insert the DVD into the Drive when it stops spinning . Reboot your computer . If it does not work I would take it back to where you bought it from .
