HP Laptop wont start after battery dies

Don't use CCleaner Registry. Registry cleaning will not improve your system speed. Even though there are a lot of orphaned keys and/or values present, you won’t notice a difference in your system speed. The only difference you’ll notice is when actually searching your registry. Do you do that? No. CCleaner also removes important keys and/or values. Just because something hasn't been used for a while doesn't mean your computer doesn't need it.

No. I'd focus on fixing the cause of the BIOS failure indicated by the flashing LED. Then on improving performance. Which CCleaner won't do, in my experience and from what I've read CCleaner causes a lot of problems, they have had direct messages from Microsft explaining why there software causes problems.

Well my 2 cents worth a) you should back up the registry in any case (I do after the initial install is complete) b) using the CC registry feature is ok as long as you save the "fixes" because you can always get them back.

Getting back the CC cleanup is simple too - just go to where they were saved - usually documents right click and Merge. I just don't see the problem with doing that.

Now I cannot see if you ever ran those scans too at least run them just to eliminate any possibles there.

The battery issue if it is a lithium ion battery as TC Eblen says they should NEVER be run complete flat and your flashing lights may be the machine is seeing the battery as bad.

Now it is my general understanding and I do stand to be corrected if the BIOS which is basically firmware has been messed up then any amount of flashing is not going to correct it. Most of my recent builds have come with dual BIOS for that very reason. So if this is the case then the motherboard may have to be replaced.

Just out of curiosity just where do you stand the machine when you operate it as very recently a member had cooked the laptop by resting it on a pillow or the bed cloths while working on it and literally overheated it. Another query has anything been split on this machine as I notice you mention kids??

Many times it's on a table. There are times where it's on my lap but I make sure there is air flow and not just piles on blankets, but I don't know if I did a good enought job now that you bring that up. How do I know if this is all from an over heating issue?

The kids are good with it, it has never been dropped or banged.

If the computer sees the battery as bad, would that be making it run slow?

I have never done a registry clean or scan.

No the machine will still function on power and even with it taken completely out. As a matter of fact I never run mine on their batteries if I have a power point available.

The scans you should run and using CCleaner will clear a lot of the crud files from the machine. One word about that though and that is when you do run CCleaner after the Analyse phase has has finished go to "Options" and then cookies in that list on the left and click on any site that you have to use a password for and save it to the right hand list by clicking the arrow in the centre column. Any cookie on the right will be saved and that saves sites as mentioned that require passwords or ones you visit a lot. (see pic)
CCleaner - Download just the free version is fine.

Ok, I am ready to throw the laptop out the window. I ran all of the cleaner programs, and its still slow, sometimes the mouse dosnt work.

I know you guys said its probably the BIOS, i updated it, any other suggestions?
