My friends has an HP Pavilion DV9000, the problem is that it would not switch on, it just shut downs after 3-4 seconds and he is not able to see the boot menu itself.
Should he change the motherboard as suggested by the HP Service centre or should he just make some minor changes into the motherboard.
And also can he replace the core in the motherboard to something else apart from AMD?

Motherboard : 441534-001
GPU : GeForce 7600
Ram : 4GB
System : 64 Bit

Can he change the motherboard model number to the same HP Pavilion DV 9000?

Please we need help.

Hi,

I suspect it might be a possible GPU or CPU temperature issue. Is the laptop still on warranty?

That is a typical issue in HP laptops in general, and in Pavilion series laptops in particular. I cannot promise this (a power reset) works but it's at least worth a try, it has helped me to get a stubborn Pavilion to cooperate several times:
  • Remove the battery and charger / power chord
  • Wait a couple of minutes
  • Now press and hold the power button down for at least 20 seconds, however stupid it makes you feel ;)
  • Again, wait a few minutes
  • Connect the charger / power chord
  • Start laptop, if it boots shut it down from Start Menu as soon as desktop has loaded
  • Insert the battery, boot
