HP Pavillion dv7 very slow to do anything

Hi all,
New poster here, my laptop is becoming painfully slow over time and I am wondering if it is time to wipe the hard drive and start from scratch. I have done all the performance tests, virus scans etc to no avail. I have recovery disk available. Good idea?

Hello and welcome bluegirl now have you had a go at clearing the clutter if not try this https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download now when you have Analysed > go to Options > Cookies > save the ones you need for pass worded sites see pic/s

You can also clear the drive of rubbish too - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/818-disk-cleanup-open-use.html

Then try using some of this stuff only you might lose some of the "bling" like transparency - can always get it back but it will make the machine run better
