I recently upgraded from a Probook 4540s to a newer 450G3 with both running Win7 Pro 64bit. The touchpad for my older Probook started a bit wonky but I eventually found a driver that made it right. I'm struggling with the new 450G3 and feel it's a driver issue rather than a touchpad issue, although I could be mistaken.

I've searched HP and Synaptics websites for assistance with no success. Maybe someone here can assist. Here are the issues I'm experiencing on a continual basis.

*Touchpad "accuracy" seems really poor
-missed taps on pad and left click button
-cursor jumps about screen
-cursor doesnt always move with finger swipe
-sometimes right click menu pops up when swiping with finger, absolutely not hitting right click button

*Cursor scroll image freezes on screen (most annoying thing)
-When two finger scrolling, the cursor image will freeze a phantom image onto the screen. It only happens on scrolling function with the scrolling cursor image. When you hover over the frozen image it shows the circular busy cursor image. Sometimes there will be 3 or more frozen images on screen which overlay almost any program you open. I can clear them by ending the SynTPEnh.exe process in task manager which seems to start itself back up immediately. I really like the two finger scrolling and would hate to have to resort to other methods.
*Adding Edit- When images freeze on screen I still have functionality of the cursor. It's just that I have these cursor scroll box images overlaying whatever I'm doing which gets annoying.

I'm currently running the latest Synaptics driver 19.0.19.43 and have also tried to rollback the driver. Neither of which helps. I've run the diagnostics on the touchpad and did not have any of the functionality issues. Same when using the touchpad in safe mode.

I've tried disabling a variety of Synaptics functions and programs with no success.

Anybody experience the same or have a solution?

Hello and welcome trillium first up I think you should redo the touchpad driver from this Drivers & Software for HP ProBook 450 G3 Notebook PC - HP Support Center.

I think this is the right one because there were three distinct model machine listed when I checked for a driver and I just picked the Notebook PC.

If that does not work then try these
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2
Run these in safe mode and the sfc often best run for two to three runs

Then get back to us with what you come up with and as a by the by any driver problems if the link I sent is right - it contains any other drivers you might need for that machine.

Remember always best to get drivers from the manufacturer of them or the machine's site - the Windows feature is not that flash.

Ran the scan and everything came back good. Went to Synaptics website and downloaded their recommended driver for Win 7, version 17.0.19. It seems this has fixed the ghost image issue. I tried that driver from a previous download which I had moved onto this computer and it wouldn't install. Had no problems pulling it directly from Synaptics website.

Thank you for the suggestions. Looks like I'm good to go for now.
