Pardon my confusion. Let me start with what I am trying to do.
I am currently taking an instructor led Microsoft certifcation course. The labs are operated in a virtual environment. In class, the Microsoft Virtual Server is is running on an old XP computer. The instructor suggested that I could take labs home an run them on my machine without any licensing issues as they are part of the student materials. In fact, the labs are installable from a CD that comes with the book.
So, I install the lab software from the back of the book on my Windows 7 Ultimate PC.
Now, as you would expect, The lab's VM launcher (LauncherApplication.exe) won't run because it is "Unable to connect to the local Virtual Server instance" until I install a VM. I tried downloading Vitual PC 2007, but I cannot install that because "This program is blocked due to compatibility issues".
I also tried Virtual Server 2005 R2. Same problem.
I searched for Hyper V download links and found a load of "related" materials, but not an installation EXE or ISO.
Pardon my ignorance, but what am I supposed to install to get a Microsoft VM on my machine so that I can run a Microsoft training lab?
Thanks, guys!
