I am hearing someones mic sound through my speakers

Just turned my Pc on today and got a similar issue, followed some advice here. not found the culprit, loked hi and low myself, no add ons, cant finding anything running in background, it started when i did a web search for a tech show called Namm, clicked on a couple of links and it just started to happened
Its almost like some one is channel hopping the radio, its going from channel to channel, switching between a handful of these channels, american/asian/Brittish/annoying autrailian chat radio, sometime two or more stations play over the top of each other, i dont expect a resolve on this one, its too weird, Just thought i should mention it.
I am a home music studio guy, so this was annoying to find this morning, but i can turn down the windows internet volume so some concellation.

My girlfriend did try and connect her phone the night before and failed, but maybe that is the cuase, it seems suspect, but i cant find no other networks on my pc that may have got access

Cellular phones can often be heard over speakers because their signal is picked up by the speaker wires which are usually unshielded.

Hi,
Solved My issue, as it happens it was my girlfriend Typing to set her phone up,and she activated some Radio streaming App, Then in turn i found an extra volume in my sounds Panel, although not sussed out how to remove it, i will have to trace back her steps on the Mobile phone wqhen she gets home, it is a bit concearning, as she set this up without any passwords and without me approving or changing anything at my end via my PC, so looks like my Pc is wide open to hackers despite running Security essentails etc. The only senario i can figure is the fact that she has had her phone running on our network in the past, but it was no longer seeming to work, so and oversight on her part, something she is missing being a none techy, i just wish i new how to find anything like this on my PC, surprised a so called acepted and legit programme is still tucked away.

I've heard exactly the same sounds as described: typing, shuffling pappers, breath and all above.
Any interference, crosstalk and so on are excluded since it is impossible to hear the exact same sounds around the globe and in this long period of time.
The sounds being exactly the same I would guess it is a record of some sort enabled by some sort of trojan.
I wonder if someone knows what it is.

Hi.
Sorry if I wasn’t able to catch all of the idea discussed here.
To the extend of what I’ve learned about sound system. That kind of freaky situation might happen. It’s already mentioned about “crosstalk” (it has many of its form).
Most sound systems have various input with various sensitivities. Less sensitive input will pick up an audio signal from line out jack of any device producing sound.
“High sensitive input circuit” pick up sound signal which is low voltage, mostly microphones. This high sensitive input circuit has a potential to receive any analog audio signal transmission. It means, any device that is transmitting audio signal might interfere with your sound system. It can be a radio broadcast, wireless home system, wireless microphones, handy talki, walkie talkie, or elses.
The digital transmission will, but we all know only its carrier signal will go through and it sounds just like if you got it from any cellphone (fluttering).
When this happens, based on my experience there are some tricks we can do to fix (or even just to prove it).

  1. Turn off the source (if known)
  2. Move the source away.
  3. Turn off the sound system that receive the signal
  4. Switch the input to non sensitive input.
  5. Plug off the microphones.
  6. Adjust microphone sensitivity
  7. There is solution I usually do when it’s proven. (require us to have some light skill in electronics work). Open the sound system’s amplifier (some are inside the speaker’s boxes). Put a ceramic capacitor with the values of 12 to 27 pF (picoFarad) to the sensitive input terminal. One leg is soldered to the (+) input terminal, the other leg is soldered to the (-) input terminal. if it is stereo input then we need two capacitors, one to R(+) other to L(+), then both to the grounding. We avoid using higher value as it might compromise the audio quality.
That’s all I can share. If you don’t feel like to do it, let it stay as a reading supplement. But if you do, take precaution :)

Kevin

Edit: Other cause also a bluetooth connection which treat our PC as remote speakers (I did it from my cellphone to my laptop to scare some guys :) but surely the connecting step won't work without approval connection code/passkey unless it's already paired before).

source possibly askmefast.com?

Daddyz said something about seeing a man pop up telling him to ask a question. i heard the typing and shuffling of papers and at that time i was on askmefast.com. A man did pop up with the same message daddyz said he saw. i shutdown my pc and so far i haven't heard it since. if u sit on askmefast.com long enuff u will see that pop up from a man name Daniel. i believe the sound may be linked to that pop up.

I had something similar about 5 years ago but it was ads going off in the background and I made it go away by quickly unplugging my ethernet cord and then scanning with my antivirus and malwarebtyes and it found a trojan. So I would scan my system with the internet disconnected if I were you.

Hi anybody - I just thought I would ad something quick here as this really freaked me out too.

I have no definate answer to this, as some have said they'd disconnected from the Internet etc., but here's what happened to me....

I had gone on YOUTUBE, listening to a tune while I work. My PC is as safe as I can have it, i've worked in computing for 30 years, and do all the same stuff as many others - building, repairs, programming etc. etc.

I assumed the music on youtube had been badly created as I could hear some background sounds...knocks, bumps, coughs etc. But when I lowered the volume, the new sounds stay the same volume - indicating its 'not' thru my own PC as that should be software controlled by Windows XP volume as normal.

I listened, and heard all the things others have heard, a person, in a room somewhere, passing time, typing, even playing a few keys on a musical keyboard, mouse clicks, paper moving/ripping.

No volume alterations stopped it. Unplugging speakers didnt affect it, the sound carried on as soon as I plugged the headphones back in.

I shut down the youtube website, that didnt stop it. I closed all system processes I didnt need, still no change. The only thing I find that linked with somebody else here that seems odd is...Sfox (member on here) said he/she had been on a website for answering questions - and it happens I too had been there, by accident as its a trick site, a pest site that will just waste people efforts to get help.

I shut that site down to, it carried on till i completely shut all website connections down in Task Manager - ahhhh, silence.

And now, i cannot get the problem back

So what can it be? if it was a trojan/hack, why would it be backwards? (me hearing them instead of them hearing me?).

The mystery continues, but I had to come on here and mention it just as everybody else has - never heard anything like this, though I have dealt with radio wave sounds being passed around. But again like others, I have nooobody near me close enough to emit power to hit my speakers.

If i ever find an answer, i will returnnnnn :)

That's true ex_brit, but in the UK we only use the digital system now and that has to be decoded. I'm not sure what other parts of the world are using now.

If the cell phone's still on analogue the sound will pass over, but if it's digital, it has to be decoded at the other end, so we'd only hear static and garbage noise if the signal is accidentally being picked up on something (or deliberately grabbed by a hacker etc.).
This was part of the reason for such things going digital - privacy, so that nobody else could easily just grab data/conversations and copy them.

I think the most odd part is, that we are all (it seems) hearing the same noises no matter where we live in the world. If it happens again, im going to patch my speaker socket to my mic socket and record it so others can hear it. i wonder if such sounds are on youtube somewhere ?

The mystery continues lol

I think we use digital too. I don't get the actual speech but an electronic sort of static. I tested it using my own mobile (bows to the fact you are in the UK...LOL) and it does it. I read somewhere that it also can happen if the system isn't grounded sorry Earthed properly.

I'm beginning to forget the old lingo, apologies.

This happened to me like 3 times the past weeks. It sounds like when you see an advertisement of a videochat, sometimes I heard a woman speaking and she spoke in english (im from Spain, so that rules out that it might be a sound from the real world).
Curiosly, my Firefox was closed at the time, and so was any other explorer. I closed any aplication while the sound was on and none of them worked. It lasted for a minute or so. I was not using the computer when it happened.

To me, It feels like some kind of advertisement mistake, maybe because of flash player, maybe because of my adblock, but it feels like its a shadow of an advertisement i should have heard some other time.

Just had the same thing happen to and i was on askmefast for a brief moment looking for answer for somethign on FB.
So I'm goin with the explanation that is some weird ad program runnin from that site
I just noticed the little ad box on the left of that site and the sounds wer very similar. it appears to be a chat help thign and the people you see act like they can see you But really they cannot. i had my webcam covered up during this. Maybe it dumps a cookie on the pc so it can keep running after you nav away from the site or close it out.
But the strange part for me was i disconnected the internet totally and the audio still ran.

I had the same confusion for a few minutes while I had askmefast open. Couldn't find the source for a bit, shut off the internet & it kept running --obviously the video loaded into my cache. It was a "Live Chat" box in the left sidebar running a vid of a person acting like they could see me, waiting for me to type is a question. Freaked me out for a few until I finally found the source.
