I followed the process of unchecking the box "USE THIS BUTTON" then SAVE.
Have done this 5/6 times and then try to copy my file and still get the refusal to let me. So i go back to Defender and sure enough, the box is checked.

Anyone know how to make Microsoft let me do what I want to on my own PC that I paid for??

The more important question is why would you want to turn Windows Defender off?

What anti-virus are you using?

What firewall are your using?

1. >>>> I followed the process of unchecking the box "USE THIS BUTTON" then SAVE.
What process is that ?

2. >>> Have done this 5/6 times and then try to copy my file
Is that " copy " or " download " ?

3. >>> So i go back to Defender and sure enough, the box is checked.
Assuming you do mean Windows Defender....
What has Windows Defender got to do with what you wanted to do ?
Were you told to turn off Windows Defender in order to do what you wanted to do ?

4. Exactly what were you trying to do ?
If it is about downloading, perhaps you don't mind disclosing what is it that you want to download which requires disabling Windows Defender ?
