Not yet, I'm in the middle of rendering a bunch of stuff...

But I'd like to know how I can avoid this, or if I accidentally did something to disable the dragging of icons?

Nope, using a 10+ year old compaq mouse, hahaha... Just a normal track/ball mouse.

Now it makes it seem as if it's obviously an age issue, but that doesn't really explain how it won't drag icons...

Do the restart as soon as it's convenient and let us know what happens.

The other day, I had an issue that I would double-click an icon and NOTHING would happen. I'm running the RC x64.

Once I restarted the laptop, it was working again.

I ended up turning my PC off 'cause of a bad thunderstorm... Haha. But I'm back, and I can drag again.

Weird...

Ok i'm having a similar issue on all three of my computers where the click and drag feature is acting up. I have tried multiple mice, rebooting, checking driver instalations, and ning seems to resolve the issue. the mice i use are all microsft laser mice 5v 100ma. This is getting very frustrating because i use my mouse as a art tool as well and cannot keep the line clicked long enough to even draw a line or move a window.

I am having the same problem on Windows 7 Ultimate x64-bit. I installed Vmware Workstation 7.0 and after it installed I was not able to drag icons or drag files from one drive to another etc. I disabled the tray icon that runs with Vmware and UAC prompted me that I was making changes. After I hit yes I was able to drag and drop files to the desktop as well as icons. I have a feeling this is a UAC bug and have since dropped it down a level from the default level.

Do you use Texter from lifehacker.com? It seems to disable drag and drop both under XP and 7 (haven't tried Vista).

in windows 7 you need to go to the control panel and click on the mouse settings then make sure that the box for "Turn on Clicklock is ticked then in settings in the same window move the slider fast or slow depending on how you feel you want you mouse to react. then you see you can drag files explorer stc.

Capt. Bob

Hi. I'm new to this forum so not sure if this is the right place. Just purchased an Apple MacBook and want to use Windows 7 on it so I can edit a website I built with my PC. Otherwise I would have to rebuild the entire website because I used Yahoo Sitebuilder that requires a PC/Windows 7 to edit it.
By using Bootcamp, Apple says I can instal Windows 7 but the installation requires the complete Windows 7 disc and I only have the recovery discs. I bought a new PC several months ago that had Windows 7 preinstalled but I sold it . I paid for Windows 7 in the purchase price of the PC. Do I have to re-purchase a complete Windows 7 program or can I somehow get the one that came with my former PC that I already paid for? I am old and not too computer savvy so simplicity would be appreciated. Thank you.

Capt. Bob

well I've found out that this is an issuse with ClickLock in the mouse settings.
I have no clue whats conflicting with what, but I do know that turning this on and off will fix draging.

and yes there is a point since I've noticed this for a while but till now have not bothered to look up the problem because of the fact that it didn't bother me to much.

I've been having the same problem on and off for the last couple of days, it turned out that I had a sticky escape key. When escape is down, drag and drop doesn't work.

Hope this helps

as it turns out I was wrong on my ealier post but, I did find out that it is most likely a program you have.
I had opened all of my programs that were running on my system tray a.k.a were your clock risides, afterwards my draging and droping was working again.

I do not know this as of the problem for a fact, but it has seemed to work, and if anyone wants to know this is were I am drawing my conclusions from.
