I can't open html file in IE

I have new computer, widow 7 64bit, IE 8.

I have lots of html files (index.html) but I can't open them in IE, which is my default internet browser. I have to right click it and select open with and choose either Firefox or Google chrome. Why?

I can open any web site in IE, it is just the html files!

You need to fix the default file association for html file extension. Heres a tut, if you scroll down you'll find the downloads for .htm and .html.

I did exactly what it said but still it is not working, whe I double click the index file Ie opens but it say Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.
If I click 'Daignose Connection Problem', it says it cannot find 'file:///Z:/ ....

What a pain!

Tryed, but it didn't work (I haven't restart my computer though and I haven't tried the reset winsock yet)!

Ok, what are these index.html files you are having trouble with? Where did they come from? Give a bit of background.

Double clicking them, they open our own training videos. Personally I just create animation to use for the videos.

But i have just notice if I save a web page as html document on the desktop and than try to open in IE, it does work, but if I save it in my Network location (Z it doesn't work. If I save it on the E: drive (a shared driver from where I mapped the network drive), it does work. The same thing I did using the index files I was trying to open and it does the same thing.

I hope it is clear I am not sure if i have word it properly.

My college, from his computer, can open those files from the network drive!
