My System contains two partitions...

21o24pd.png

As shown in above figure, my os partition size is 222 GB. Free space in OS partition is 85 GB. I want to Move 80 GB free space of OS partition to second Partion(F:) to do this, I tried to Shrink the OS volume. But size of available space for shrinking is only 707 MB.

Sorry I cannot see the picture ... for some reason tinypic doesnt load for me :(

If your first disk (DISk0) contains less than four primary partitions, you can do the job using Partition Wizard Bootable CD . . For how to do it tutorial, follow the option three of the tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/93322-partition-wizard-use-bootable-cd.html , it will work for shrinking from the right side, too.

EDIT : If there are four primary partitions already, dont try it. First convert a non-system partition to logical (Partition wizard can do it), and then try the above. Sorry again that I cannot see the pic you posted .

Welcome shahulhameed to the windows 7 forums.

One problem that I see is that you are trying to shrink your primary boot partition and that is allowed but: your disk most likely has the page file and hyberfil on the C drive which takes up space and most likely will be at the end of your c drive. That creates a problem where there is not enough space to shrink as your pictures indicate.
One other problme is that even if you can shrink the C drive by the 80 gigs your asking for. It will not be available to the F drive as it will end up in front of the F drive and in MHO, I don't think you can add space to the front of another partition.

If you want to do this, you can copy all the data from your F drive to an external drive and the remove the F partiion, Then you can defragment your C drive temporarily remove your page and hyberfil. then you should be able to shrink your C drive and then that space will be available for your new partion which most likely would be F.

But, I think it is not a good idea to have so little free space on your C drive as most programs require space to install files on your C drive. Also you might not have enough space for system restore files, which can get large. Also you might have several restore files which you could get rid of before the defrag.

Just my opinion on what you want to accomplish
Good luck

Rich

Again, free Partition Wizard CD's Resize function will do this effortlessly - even check the file system on the fly.

It's been used thousands of times without fail here.
